Dietitian Approved: Egglife Egg Wraps

This week as part of our weekly taste test, we tried out Egglife’s egg white wraps! This product comes in a variety of flavors including Original, Southwest, Italian, Everything Bagel, and Rye. We tried out the Everything Bagel flavored wraps which had the same flavors we love from an everything bagel but without all those refined carbohydrates. Our verdict of these wraps was that they are dietitian-approved and we’re here to tell you a few reasons why.

For starters, the macronutrient distribution is great, with only 35 calories in one wrap and 6 grams of protein. Ingredients in the everything bagel flavored wraps are very simple, consisting of egg whites, hemp seeds, dried garlic, dried onion, poppy seed, xanthan gum, and sea salt. All ingredients you can read and understand, which follows suit with our mission of consuming a whole foods diet. The cost of the item is also very affordable, each package comes with six wraps and costs about $4.50. If you divide it out, that’s only 75 cents per wrap. We also love how easy they are to prepare with two options of heating in the microwave for 90 seconds or in a pan on the stovetop. The Egglife egg white wraps are sold at various grocery stores, including Aldi and Wegmans.

We also created two recipe ideas for a quick and easy breakfast using these egg white wraps. First, we microwaved the wrap for 90 seconds, then topped it off by spreading some garlic hummus for extra protein and added sliced avocado for healthy fats and fiber. Our second recipe was a low-calorie take on avocado toast! We used a whole grain brown rice cake as the “toast” and topped with mashed avocado and the egg white wrap. You can customize by adding red pepper flakes, hot sauce, or even a sprinkle of feta cheese. Other ideas include filling the wrap with your favorite veggies and low-fat cheese to create your own omelet and so much more.
