About the Recipe

This lower sugar blueberry sauce emphasizes the flavor of blueberries for a great topper for oats, toast, and more

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Frozen Blueberries

  • 1 Tablespoon Cornstarch

  • 2 Tablespoons Lime or Lemon Juice

  • 1 Tablespoon Sugar

  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg

  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1 cup water

Preparation

  1. In a large glass bowl, toss berries with cornstarch and sugar.

  2. Add spices, then water and lemon or lime juice.

  3. Microwave on high for 3 minutes. Stop and stir thoroughly. Repeat in 3 minute increments until it has reached desired consistency (about 9 minutes total).

  4. Mixture should be the consistency of syrup (not thick). If you desire a thicker syrup, add 1 extra tablespoon of cornstarch.
